Fittings > I have chosen the door, how do I know it will fit in to my garage?

Find your chosen type of operating gear from the headings below, where we have given you tips on where the door can be fitted to your garage opening i.e. between or behind, what the side and headroom requirements are, and tips on what to look for when installing a framed door, or to an existing timber frame.

Canopy/Retractable
Can be installed to an existing timber frame or can be supplied pre-framed from the factory

Fitting To An Existing Timber Frame
Ensure frame is a minimum of 50mm wide on the back face for a canopy door or 70mm for a retractable.
The frame must be in a good condition.
The frame must be securely fixed to the blockwork and both side jambs upright and parallel.
The head of the frame must be level and square.

If you are in doubt about any of the above, order your door with a factory fitted steel frame and remove your old existing timber sub-frame.

Measure between the timber frame - width and height - in at least 3 different positions to ensure the frame is square.
